We certainly all agree that the most important thing about an album record is the music. Nevertheless, a nice cover artwork makes an album so much more enjoyable. Moreover, a good design will also help when it comes to selling the disc – a dull cover won’t stand out among the thousands of other albums one can find in a record store or on iTunes. Lastly, a good cover nearly always manages to combine typography (the band’s and the record’s name) and a photography or an illustration very effectively.
These three key elements – adding value to a product, gaining the customers attention with outstanding design, and uniting typography with photography/illustrations – are the main reason why album cover artworks are the perfect inspiration source for every designer. If your design manages to do well at all three aspects, you can be almost sure that it will work.
