You may think that trees are not the most interesting of subjects to do a photography feature on but I definitely think they are. Trees have always been a cultural symbol and are very important to our planet. They play an important role in producing the oxygen we breathe and reducing the levels of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere not to mention the lovely fruit and nuts they grow and the wood they provide us with.
Tallest Tree – Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens): 115.56 m (379.1 ft), Redwood National Park, California, United States
Largest Tree – Giant Sequoia Sequoiadendron giganteum: 1,487 m³ (52,508 cu ft), General Sherman
Oldest tree – Great Basin Bristlecone Pine (Methuselah) Pinus longaeva: 4,844 years
This is an appreciation for the wonderful giant of the plant world, the tree.
