It’s been a long wait for the third instalment of one of the 21st centuries greatest game franchises, but today Gears of War 3 is finally out!

Gears of War is a military science fiction third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game focuses on the troops of Delta Squad as they fight a desperate, last ditch attempt to save the remaining human inhabitants of the fictional planet Sera from a relentless and virtually unstoppable subterranean enemy known as the Locust Horde. The player assumes the role of Marcus Fenix, a former prisoner and war-hardened soldier.

In Gears of War 2, The COG continues its fight against the Locust horde, who are attempting to sink all of the cities on the planet Sera. Sergeant Marcus Fenix leads Delta Squad into the depths of the planet to try to stop the Locust during the assault upon Locust territory.

And in Gears of War 3 which was released today – Eighteen months after the fall of Jacinto, the survivors of Jacinto moved to the island of Vectes to rebuild. After a generally quiet period, the Imulsion infected Lambent began to emerge from the ground. Hiding something, the COG head of state, Chairman Prescott, abandoned the COG. Now leaderless and being forced off the island, the COG disbands and separates to the safest places left. Victor Hoffman takes some survivors to Anvil Gate while Delta squad sets off on the “Raven’s Nest” naval ship with the remaining humans to avoid further Lambent incursion. While on the Raven’s Nest, Marcus learns from Prescott that his father is still alive, and they must journey to find him on a hint that he has found a way to help save humanity.
