You may think you are viewing photos of miniature villages but these are in fact photos of real life. These photographs have been taken using the special art of tilt-shift photography. The effects can be produced by the use of camera movements on small and medium cameras. The name originates from the tilt-shift lens which is normally required to produce this effect optically.  The tilt refers to the rotation of the lens plane relative to the image plane thus giving us the tilt effect and the shift is created by the movement of the lens plane which is parallel to the image plane without having to move the camera back to capture the whole image. The tilt controls the (PoF) plane of focus and makes that part of the image appear sharper and producing this model village look.
